"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest

accomplishment." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

James is an oil painter most recognised for works involving water - seascapes, fish and lakes. He has recently begun a series of wood and forest paintings.

His inspiration comes in many forms, sometimes a beautiful sky with clouds that form recognisable shapes; sometimes the waves gently rolling into shore in the evening sun, or when the dawn is freshly breaking. Often he will see something as a vision or a dream and it makes him pause and want to share it with others.

Some things he can watch for hours on end, like fish gliding through the water as if in air; waves rolling in and also, what is more, just about to fold and curl in on itself under it's own weight. These moments he wishes to capture as paintings that will hopefully bring the viewer as much joy as he derives from making them.

James is incredibly motivated and inspired by the works of John Singer Sargent; Joaquin Sorolla and William Bougereau. The way they controlled paint and evoked atmosphere, light and reality is astounding. For more insight into works that inspire him, have a look at his pinterest page.

James began been painting from an early age and for more than 10 years painted in oil paint whist working with digital and 3D art for a living. He decided to focus on constantly learning and seeking to improve upon his oil painting, whilst occasionally working digitally.

He is always open to commissions and any comments about his work and art in general.
